TODD SANDTTodd Sandt is the NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officer and Instructor at the Firing Pin who began his formal firearms training when he enlisted d the Army as an Infantryman at 17 years old. After studying at Valley Forge Military College, he received a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry and spent most of his 17 years’ service in the Army as a member of Airborne units as a paratrooper. He completed numerous military training courses and accumulated over two hundred parachute jumps earning the Master Parachutist Badge. Todd served overseas in Panama and Korea and left the Army with a Honorably Discharge at the Rank of Captain.
Todd served 13 years in law enforcement at the Lee County Sheriffs office as a Corporal in the Patrol Division and as a Patrolman at the Opelika Police Department. After law enforcement, Todd began working for Omega Training Group in Columbus Georgia as a civilian contractor at Fort Benning Georgia. He helped write the Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC II) for the Army and was also an Instructor at the Fort Benning OCONUS Replacement Center training soldiers to deploy overseas. In 2009 he deployed to Afghanistan to train soldiers on how to operate a new Mine Resistant Ambush Protective (MRAP) vehicle. After returning, he became a member of the Maneuver Center of Excellence Counter Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Training Team as an analyst and instructor. Todd enjoys outdoor activities such as canoeing and hunting. He has been the Scoutmaster of a Boy Scout Troop in Auburn for the past 14 years and has had over thirty scouts attain the rank of Eagle Scout. He himself an Eagle Scout, has been in the Boy Scout program for over 30 years and has held many positions in the Chattahoochee Boy Scout Council. Todd has been an NRA Instructor for the past nine years and holds certifications in four disciplines besides being an Instructor and Chief Range Safety officer. He also is a National Field Archery Association and USA Archery instructor. COURSE DESCRIPTIONFirst Rounds - 2 hour course - $50The biggest challenge for new shooters is getting started. First Rounds makes getting started in shooting very easy! An educational introduction to the safe and recreational use of firearms. The course provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to shooting by qualified range operators and instructors that includes firearm safety, local ownership requirements, shooting fundamentals, hands-on instruction and how and where to continue.
Firearm Rental and Ammo available for $20 (pay the day of the course) FPSS-IV Introduction to Handgun - 4 hour course - $125NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting Course is a hands on 1-day class for law-abiding US citizens desiring the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning, maintaining and shooting a pistol. Course Materials, Completion Certificate and Range Fees are included. Firearms can be rented if needed or you may bring your own. Ammunition is available for purchase. 100 rounds needed for the course. Please call if you have questions.

This a NON-SHOOTING course. It is designed to teach you the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and effectively supervising various types of shooting activities and range operations safely. This is an ADULTS ONLY course and requires you to be 21 years of age or older to attend. There is also a Range Safety Officer Registration / Processing fee through the NRA that is paid directly to the NRA after successful completion of the course (not included with course fee) FPSS-IV |
