JACOB FANNIN

Jacob Fannin was born and raised in Troy, AL. He graduated from Charles Henderson High School and went to work with the Troy Police Department in 2003 where he worked in the Communications Division for 10 years. Jacob also worked and volunteered in various positions over the years including the Town of Banks Fire/Rescue where he served 5 years as the departments Safety Officer. He also served as the Safety & Security advisor for the American Red Cross in Pike County during Hurricane Katrina. Jacob is a certified first responder, he holds multiple other certifications including; Tactical Combative Casualty Care, Tactical Emergency Casualty Care, Vehicle Rescue Tech, Pre-Hospital Trauma, First Care Provider, and more.

In 2013 Jacob transferred to the City of Troy Administrative Division and was appointed City Risk Manager shortly thereafter, where he currently oversees the Health and Safety Program. Jacob completed his Health and Safety Management with the University of Alabama in 2015, Hazard Control Management with the International Board in 2015, and Risk Management with Auburn University in 2017.
In 2014 Jacob founded Shady Grove Tactical, LLC. For several years he taught defensive firearms tactics to the civilian market. In early 2015 Jacob became a certified Stop the Bleed Instructor. Jacob has since spent countless hours training and educating the public and law enforcement in this curriculum. Jacob has had the opportunity to train everyone from teachers to SWAT officers in tourniquet, wound packing, and basic trauma care.

In November of 2017 Jacob was selected as Alabama State Coordinator for the National Stop the Bleed initiative and was appointed to the National Board of Directors in March of 2018. Jacob now spends a considerable amount of time traveling in and around the Southeast United States teaching and attending Stop the Bleed training events. ​

COURSE DESCRIPTION(S)

First Care Provider - 8 hour course - $200 - 10 seats

This class is for the average armed citizen with little or no medical training who wants to be prepared with the knowledge and skills to respond to the aftermath of an active shooter event, terrorist attack or any emergency in general.

FPSS-IV

Stop the Bleed - 3 hour course - $85 - 12 seats

Bleeding Control for the Injured (B-Con) teaches participants the basic life-saving medical interventions, including bleeding control with a tourniquet, bleeding control with gauze packs or topical hemostatic agents, and opening an airway to allow a casualty to breathe. The 3 hour course is designed for NON tactical law enforcement officers, firefighters, security personnel, teachers and other civilians requiring this basic training.
